There are many options open and these depend on what suits you best. We don't offer a travel service but please have a look at the following suggestions.
By Car
For families with lots of gear this is often the best way to travel. Montalbert is around 600miles from Calais which can be covered in around 10 hours in good weather as the roads are all Auto route or dual carriageway. |
 |
The recommended route from Calais is to take the A26 signed Reims , then follow the A4 toward Lyon and at Lyon take the A43 to Albertville. A430 to Moutiers D90 to Aime and then a short drive up the mountain to Montalbert. Full instructions will be sent on booking.
You may wish to break the journey on the way down and we have found that stopping over night in Beaune or Lyon is a good compromise as the journey the next day is quite short.
Make sure that you take snow chains which you can hire or buy in the UK and it's a good idea to take breakdown cover for traveling in Europe.

Channel crossings
Some people prefer the Euro tunnel others prefer the Ferries. The prices are similar but its best to shop around and book as early as possible to secure your price
By Air
What a choice! Flag Carrier or Budget Airlines there are some great deals on offer, but as usual shop around and book early for the best deals. |

Car Hire
We use either carbookers or Holiday Autos to get the best deals. They are brokers for all the big Car Hire companies and they are generally cheaper than going direct to the car hire companies themselves. |
Make sure that you order snow chains and if you are taking your skis, ask for a roof rack when you book. Finally, don't forget your drivers licence!
Train
There are various train options with Eurostar and Snow train leaving Waterloo and arriving in Moutiers or Bourg St Maurice ( both about 30 mins away by taxi). We have not tried this ourselves but have been told it's convenient if you live in central London and you don't want to drive out to the airports. If you use this option let us have your feedback!
